Starter Studio grads now employ more than 100 in Orlando

Starter Studio Orlando Tech AcceleratorOfficials with Orlando’s Starter Studio said last week that graduates have raised a combined $3 million and have employed more than 100 people since it opened its doors in 2013.

The news comes as the downtown program prepares to welcome its fifth class of startups, a group that will include businesses in the wearable, travel and mobile app industries.

Starter Studio Executive Director Donna Mackenzie said the data, which covers the studio’s first three classes, are just a start.Past Starter Studio company Fattmerchant now employs roughly 20 people downtown and the streaming company Joicaster is going through a program with the high-profile TechStars accelerator in San Antonio.

“We can achieve more if we can provide access to more early seed funding,” she said. “That brings resources to help them go further, faster.”

Mackenzie said growing those funds will keep businesses in Orlando as they grow. Here is a list of companies that will make up the fifth class at Starter Studio.
